We often speak of the "soul" as a singular, unbreakable sphere—a core of light that remains constant throughout our lives. But life rarely treats us with such gentleness. "Fragments of a Shattered Soul" is the lived reality of anyone who has survived a trauma, a devastating betrayal, or a collapse of faith.
When a soul shatters, the initial instinct is to look at the mess and declare it ruined. However, the beauty of a shattered thing lies in the potential for a mosaic.
A soul doesn't usually shatter all at once. It begins with "stress fractures"—small compromises of integrity or ignored boundaries. The final shatter usually comes from an event that the internal structure cannot support:
The most difficult phase is spent living among the fragments. This is a time of deep disorientation where you can't remember the "you" from before the break. In this state, we often accidentally cut those who try to get close to us, as our defense mechanisms are jagged and unpredictable.
In Japan, Kintsugi is the art of repairing broken pottery with gold. To heal a shattered soul, we must practice a form of "Spiritual Kintsugi":

A soul that has been shattered and rebuilt is often more resilient. You gain a deeper sense of empathy, recognizing the "clink" of a breaking soul in others. There is no more room for masks when you are a mosaic; you are forced to be honest because your scars are part of your beauty.
If you feel like a collection of fragments today, do not rush to be "whole" again. Wholeness is a process, not a destination. Take your time with the pieces. You are not broken beyond repair; you are currently in production. One day, the light will hit the gold in your cracks, and you will realize that the shatter was the beginning of your most beautiful version yet.
